About this nanny job

We are looking for a nanny who can commit to the hours of 12:00PM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Friday. We need an experienced caregiver who can provide full time care for our kids since my husband and I work intense jobs and sometimes do have to travel for work (not often). While we have had a nanny for 7 years since our son was born, we are now looking for someone whose skill set will reflect the needs of older children. Ideally, we now have a nanny with some experience in preschool / elementary school education to do homework, play board games, card games, chess, etc. and someone who is comfortable working with a child who is mildly anxious (has mild OCD). A college or masters degree is highly favored! The basics: - Show up on time at 12:00 and can stay engaged till 7:00. - Someone who realizes we rely on them and so won't take days off without ample heads up. - Someone who is "safety first" - the person who is with our kids needs to be super diligent with strangers, on the subway, etc. - Simple clean up after the kids, doing the kids' laundry, picking up groceries, cooking healthy meals by following simple recipes (the kids are vegetarian). - Pick up our son from the Upper West side at 2:30 and bring him to FiDi on the subway (2 or 3 train) and then pick up my daughter at 3:30 from 3K near our apartment. - Take both of them to various extracurricular activities - Homework for my son (30-45 mins) - Get bath going (for my daughter - my son can handle himself). - Get the kids into their PJs. - Get dinner going for the kids. - On days when kids are off from school, come up with engaging things to do (playgrounds, museums to visit, set up playdates at home with friends. etc). - On days when kids are sick, getting in there and being loving and caring with them, and taking their temperature and giving them basic meds (Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec, etc.) What really will differentiate a candidate: - Someone who can engage a 7 year old who is accelerated academically and challenge him with homework, reading, etc. (Can you play chess, play math games, introduce him to new books, do art?) - Someone who can help my son regulate anxieties - Helping both kids become more independent - Someone who can help my daughter with separation anxiety - are you comfortable playing with kids and also helping preschoolers learn through play? - Someone who is a very good communicator and is comfortable with tech / smart phones - Someone who has experience / doesn't need hand holding
