About this nanny job

Seeking a high EQ caregiver to take care of the love of our life, our 3.5 year old son. 🫶🏻 Job details: He's a brilliant, kind, intuitive, and thoughtful kid who needs after-school care and play-based educational enrichment from 3-6pm and during days off from school (he's currently in preschool 8:30am-3pm); hours can vary in the summer. He thrives in the care of someone who is highly present and engaged, communicates openly and with patience, and has calm / settled energy. We would love for someone to help further his learning and love of reading. He's also an active little guy who loves the outdoors. Huge bonus points if you've got Montessori / Reggio Emilia training or have worked in or studied early childhood education. There is some travel involved - a) for mom's work, when you and our son might occasionally accompany her to various cities (you and our son will get to do activities and explore while she works; these days can be longer) and b) for family vacations, where we would need part time help but also give you lots of time to explore on your own or join us for fun activities. We can guarantee 40+ hours with a mix of childcare and house manager duties. Our values as parents: We believe that we are raising an adult, not a child, and that our primary job is to raise one who is kind, confident, and well-adjusted. We believe in gentle parenting, attachment parenting, cosleeping, treating our son with respect as a person, but providing explanation and guidance to make good choices, using every moment as a learning opportunity, and helping him discover his capabilities. We treat him as a whole person and work hard to help guide him on his way to becoming a physically and emotionally healthy one. Favorite parenting books include The Nurture Revolution, Good Inside, and The Whole Brain Child. Our values as a family: We are a loving, highly supportive family who deeply values our child's caregivers. We love to have our friends and family visit us and host them in our home. We enjoy the outdoors and try to hike every weekend when the weather cooperates. We are pretty "crunchy" (organic and local food, nontoxic cleaning and beauty supplies, trying to eliminate microplastics, avoid chemicals wherever possible). We also work hard and try to ensure our family won't have to do without too much. In a dream world, we would run a biodynamic farm, but alas we have day jobs. Bridging these worlds is where we hope you can come in. :)
